Through a diverse and eclectic series of talks, workshops, exhibitions, projects, and parties, Scent Week will shine a long overdue spotlight on global perfumery practices in the context of Los Angeles' thriving independent perfume scene.
May 4, The Aster
Perfumer Alfonso Nicolai (with Teorema Scent Studio and The Aster) presents Cinema SENTIR, a film series featuring 4D sensory activations. Kick off Scent Week with a special screening of a very LA movie: Blade Runner (Ridley Scott, 1982).
May 5-7, Craft Contemporary
Scent Fair LA introduces new audiences to the world of highly conceptual scents. A curated selection of cutting-edge fragrance makers exhibiting and selling their work, hands-on workshops, an opening night party, and it all takes place at Craft Contemporary.
May 9, Travertine Studio
Terry Carter opens Travertine Studio for an afternoon of perfumery, featuring a lively panel discussion on Entrepreneurship and Ethics (with Christophe Laudamiel, Ethan Turner, Chavalia Mwamba), an Indie Perfumer’s Marketplace, new friends, and good times.
May 11, Cicada Club
Celebrate the finalists and winners, as the 9th edition of the Art and Olfaction Awards returns to the city where it all began: Los Angeles! For maximum Art Deco glamour, we chose the historic Cicada Club as our venue. It's swanky, it's beautiful, and it'll be a lot of fun.
May 9, IAO Gallery
IAO hosts a private view for Romanian artist Cristian Marianciuc’s Olfactory Peregrinations: jewel-like paper birds, delicately cut, folded and glued to evoke the sensorial impressions produced by contemporary and vintage perfumes.
May 12 + May 14, Var. Locations
Maxwell Williams (UFO Parfums) presents a scent rave (May 12, location upon signup) and a panel discussion (May 14, Geffen Contemporary at MOCA), closing Scent Week with two events dedicated to dancing, music, and smell.
